Could They Be Connected to Our Ancestors?
What if the ancient gods weren't entirely imaginary?
What if some of the stories passed down for thousands of years began with encounters that ancient people couldn't explain?
And what if the answers to those mysteries were hidden somewhere in our own DNA?
On September 30, 2026, former United States Air Force intelligence officer David Grusch appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience and described something extraordinary.
He claimed to have watched classified footage showing several mysterious, remarkably humanlike beings lying dead during a recovery operation.
But it was something else he said that made the story even more intriguing.
Grusch recalled a statement he attributed to retired Air Force Major General William “Neil” McCasland, who reportedly told musician and UFO researcher Tom DeLonge to think about the Greek gods when considering the UFO phenomenon.
Then came another detail.
The general Grusch was talking about had disappeared earlier that year, just eight days after President Donald Trump announced an initiative to release government records concerning UFOs and extraterrestrial life.
Coincidence? Quite possibly.
But Grusch himself drew attention to the timing.
And when we combine his account of the missing general, the alleged recovered bodies, and his statements about genetic research, an extraordinary question begins to emerge.
What if these beings, assuming they exist, aren't visitors from another planet?
What if they have something to do with our own ancestry?
The Intelligence Officer Who Brought the Allegations to Congress
David Grusch wasn't simply someone who reported seeing strange lights in the sky.
He served as an intelligence officer in the United States Air Force and held positions involving intelligence analysis and unidentified anomalous phenomena, commonly called UAPs.
He worked with the National Reconnaissance Office and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and participated in government efforts to investigate UAP reports.
In 2023, Grusch became internationally known after alleging that secret government programs had recovered unusual craft and biological material associated with what he described as nonhuman intelligence.
He also alleged that information concerning these programs had been improperly withheld from Congress.
On July 26, 2023, Grusch testified under oath before the House Oversight Committee alongside former Navy aviators David Fravor and Ryan Graves.
During that hearing, Representative Nancy Mace asked whether biological material had accompanied any alleged recoveries.
Grusch answered yes.
When asked whether the material was human or nonhuman, he said the people with direct knowledge of the alleged programs had assessed it as nonhuman.
That was an extraordinary allegation.
But his later interview with Joe Rogan introduced details about what he says he personally saw.
The Footage of the Mysterious Bodies
During his September 2026 interview, Grusch claimed he had viewed video footage showing several bodies during a recovery operation.
He estimated that he saw approximately three or four.
He described them as extremely humanlike, unusually beautiful, and possessing pale, almost bluish-white skin.
He also recalled long hair.
According to Grusch, the footage was relatively clear, although it did not focus closely on the bodies.
He emphasized that he had watched video rather than physically examining the remains.
He also explained that he had taken steps to satisfy himself that the material wasn't part of an intelligence deception.
That is his account of the experience. The footage itself has not been publicly released for independent examination.
But the description raises an interesting question.
Why did these alleged beings look so much like humans?
And why did Grusch immediately connect their appearance to something a retired Air Force general had reportedly said about ancient Greek gods?
The General Who Said to Think of the Greek Gods
William “Neil” McCasland had an extensive career in the United States Air Force.
He held senior leadership positions involving space systems, military research, technology development, and acquisition.
Among his assignments was command of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
Wright-Patterson has appeared in UFO stories for decades, partly because of its historical connection to government investigations of unidentified flying objects.
That history doesn't establish that extraterrestrial materials were stored there, but it helps explain why McCasland's name attracted attention within the UFO research community.
McCasland also had a reported connection to Tom DeLonge, the Blink-182 musician who became involved in UFO disclosure efforts.
During his conversation with Joe Rogan, Grusch said McCasland had encouraged DeLonge to think about the Greek gods.
Grusch suggested that after seeing the alleged recovery footage, he understood why that comparison might have been made.
It was the appearance of the beings that caught his attention.
They weren't described as the familiar small gray figures with oversized eyes.
They were described as strikingly humanlike.
Beautiful.
Pale.
Long-haired.
Almost like idealized figures from ancient mythology.
Could that be what McCasland was referring to?
We don't know. Grusch was recounting what he understood McCasland to have told DeLonge, rather than presenting a directly documented explanation from the general.
But it is a fascinating connection to explore.
The General Who Disappeared Eight Days After Trump's UFO Announcement
On February 19, 2026, President Donald Trump publicly announced that he was directing federal agencies to begin identifying and releasing government records concerning UFOs, UAPs, and extraterrestrial life.
The announcement attracted considerable attention from people who had spent years advocating for greater government transparency.
Eight days later, on February 27, retired Major General Neil McCasland disappeared from his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
According to law enforcement reporting, McCasland left behind his phone, glasses, and electronic devices.
Authorities also reported that his hiking boots, wallet, and a firearm were missing.
His disappearance prompted a search involving local authorities and assistance from the FBI.
Investigators reported no evidence of foul play during their early investigation.
But during his September interview, Grusch pointed directly to the timing.
He noted that McCasland disappeared shortly after Trump's announcement and described the circumstances as unusual.
Grusch also said he knew a great deal about the general, although he did not publicly establish what had happened to him.
The timing is undeniably interesting.
A former senior Air Force officer with a connection to UFO discussions disappears eight days after the president announces a government effort to release UFO-related records.
Was it simply an unfortunate coincidence?
Was there some entirely unrelated explanation?
Or could there be information about his disappearance that the public has not yet learned?
Those questions remain unanswered.
There is no established evidence connecting McCasland's disappearance to Trump's announcement or to classified UFO information.
Still, it is understandable why Grusch and others have questioned the timing.
And it makes McCasland's alleged reference to the Greek gods even more intriguing.
What If the Ancient Greek Gods Were Based on Real Encounters?
Ancient Greek mythology describes gods who looked remarkably human.
Zeus, Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, and the other Olympians were often depicted with idealized human appearances.
They possessed extraordinary abilities, but they weren't always described as distant, invisible forces.
They traveled among mortals.
They fought wars.
They formed relationships with human beings.
And in many stories, they had children with humans.
Heracles was said to be the son of Zeus and the mortal woman Alcmene.
Perseus was also described as a son of Zeus.
Achilles was the child of the mortal Peleus and the sea goddess Thetis.
These were mythological accounts, not established historical records of humans reproducing with nonhuman beings.
But what if some ancient traditions were inspired by experiences that people genuinely believed had occurred?
Could unfamiliar visitors, extraordinary individuals, or misunderstood events have influenced stories that developed into religious mythology?
And if Grusch's description of the alleged beings is accurate, why do they sound so much like the beautiful, humanlike figures depicted in ancient Greek art?
The resemblance is not proof of a connection.
But it certainly makes the general's alleged remark worth discussing.
David Grusch Says Genomic Comparisons Were Investigated
Perhaps the most fascinating part of Grusch's interview for the True Blood Group community came when the conversation turned toward genetics.
Grusch discussed the possibility that some of the alleged beings might not be extraterrestrial in the conventional sense.
He wondered whether they could represent a biological lineage connected to humans, something engineered, or another form of life with an unfamiliar origin.
He then said that the apparent similarities had prompted concern from a genomic perspective and that work had been done to compare genomes.
When Rogan asked whether he meant comparisons involving biological samples from dead bodies, Grusch confirmed that was what he was discussing.
However, he also acknowledged that he did not know what those comparisons had revealed.
That is an important distinction.
Grusch claims genomic research was undertaken.
He has not publicly presented the results, and we do not have independently verified laboratory findings demonstrating that such biological samples exist.
But consider the question his allegation raises.
If scientists were examining genetic material from unknown humanlike beings, what would they be looking for?
Would they be trying to determine whether the organisms were related to humans?
Whether they shared an evolutionary ancestor with us?
Whether their biology had been artificially engineered?
Or whether they belonged to a completely unfamiliar branch of life?
Those would all be reasonable scientific questions if authentic biological material were available.
And they lead directly into one of the most fascinating possibilities raised during Grusch's interview.
What If They Were Our Ancestors?
When people hear the word alien, they usually imagine a civilization arriving from another star system.
But Grusch discussed a different possibility.
What if the alleged beings represent an unknown branch of our evolutionary tree?
What if they developed on Earth?
What if they belong to a civilization that existed long before recorded human history?
Or what if they share ancient ancestry with modern humans?
These ideas remain speculative, but they connect with discoveries scientists have already made about our complicated evolutionary history.
Modern genetic research has established that some living human populations inherited DNA from Neanderthals and Denisovans.
These ancient groups were closely related to modern humans, and their genetic contributions remain detectable today.
Their existence and genetic relationships are supported by fossils, ancient DNA, and extensive scientific research.
That does not mean an advanced civilization of humanlike beings existed before us.
But it demonstrates that the history of our species includes populations and relationships that were unknown until relatively recently.
What else might we discover about our evolutionary past?
And if scientists ever encountered authentic biological evidence of an unknown intelligent species, could genetic analysis reveal a relationship to humanity?
That would be an extraordinary discovery.
But it would require extraordinary evidence.
What About Their Blood Types?
For our community at True Blood Group, the possibility of genetic similarities raises another question.
If these alleged beings were related to humans, would they have blood types similar to ours?
Would they possess an ABO blood group system?
Would they have an Rh system?
Or would their biology be entirely different?
Human blood groups are determined by inherited biological characteristics, including molecules associated with red blood cells.
The ABO system determines whether someone has type A, B, AB, or O blood.
The Rh system is separate and includes the familiar positive and negative classifications.
Blood group genetics has a long evolutionary history, and related biological systems exist in other primates.
But that doesn't mean an unknown organism would share our exact blood types.
In fact, we don't even know whether the alleged beings described by Grusch possessed blood resembling human blood.
No publicly verified scientific evidence links Rh-negative blood, type O blood, or any other human blood group to extraterrestrial beings or ancient gods.
Still, if authentic biological samples were ever made available, investigating their genetics and blood chemistry would be scientifically interesting.
Were their cells similar to ours?
Did they transport oxygen the same way?
Did they possess genetic markers associated with known terrestrial life?
Could researchers establish any evolutionary relationship?
And if comparisons have already been conducted, as Grusch alleges, what did they find?
That is the kind of information our community would love to see made available for independent research.
The Anunnaki and Other Ancient Stories
The ancient Greeks weren't the only civilization to describe powerful beings interacting with humanity.
Mesopotamian mythology included the Anunnaki, a group of deities whose roles differed across ancient texts and historical periods.
Some modern writers have interpreted these stories as accounts of extraterrestrial visitors or beings involved in humanity's creation.
Those interpretations remain speculative.
The surviving ancient texts do not establish that the Anunnaki were extraterrestrial scientists or that they genetically engineered modern humans.
But the similarities between ancient traditions are interesting.
Across different cultures, people told stories about extraordinary beings who possessed knowledge, power, or abilities beyond ordinary humans.
Some stories described gods coming down from the heavens.
Others described divine beings living among humans.
Still others explored the origins of humanity and the relationship between mortals and gods.
Could these stories reflect shared themes in human imagination and religion?
Could they have been influenced by real historical events that were later transformed through generations of storytelling?
Or could some traditions contain memories of encounters that remain unexplained?
We don't know.
But Grusch's account introduces a modern reason to revisit these ancient questions.
The Threats Grusch Says He Faced
Another significant part of Grusch's story involves his allegations of intimidation and retaliation.
During his September interview, he described a situation in which he says people discussed taking his life because of his involvement in efforts to expose information about classified programs.
He claimed that individuals working within government oversight channels became aware of the danger and that intervention prevented the alleged plan from proceeding.
Grusch also described professional consequences and the personal strain of his whistleblower activities.
These are serious allegations.
The public has not been provided sufficient independent evidence to establish every detail of the alleged threats.
But Grusch has repeatedly stated that he believes his efforts placed him in danger.
He has also argued that government secrecy and inadequate oversight allowed certain individuals to misuse their authority.
Whether one accepts his broader claims about nonhuman intelligence or not, allegations of retaliation against someone attempting to provide information to Congress deserve careful examination.
Why Hasn't the Public Seen the Evidence?
This may be the most important question of all.
Grusch has described alleged recovery programs, biological remains, classified footage, and genomic investigations.
He says he has spoken with people who possessed direct knowledge of these activities.
But the public still lacks independently verifiable biological samples, laboratory reports, or the recovery footage he describes.
The Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office has reported that it found no verifiable evidence that the United States government or private companies possessed extraterrestrial technology.
Grusch has challenged the adequacy of official investigations and has continued to advocate for disclosure.
That leaves the public with competing accounts and substantial unanswered questions.
If the alleged material exists, independent scientific examination would be essential.
Researchers would need to establish where the samples came from, how they were collected, whether they were contaminated, and what their genetic characteristics actually showed.
If genomic comparisons were performed, the methods and findings would need to be examined.
If unusual biological material was recovered, scientists would need access to evidence rather than descriptions alone.
And if the results revealed a connection to human ancestry, the implications would extend far beyond the UFO debate.
They would change our understanding of life itself.
What If the Answers Have Been Here All Along?
Humanity has spent thousands of years asking where we came from.
Ancient civilizations answered through stories of gods, creation, and divine ancestry.
Modern science investigates our origins through fossils, archaeology, genetics, and evolutionary biology.
Now a former Air Force intelligence officer has brought forward allegations that, if ever substantiated, could introduce entirely new questions.
He says he watched footage of mysterious humanlike bodies.
He says genomic comparisons were investigated.
He says a retired Air Force general encouraged a UFO researcher to think about the Greek gods.
And that same general disappeared just eight days after President Trump announced an effort to release government UFO records.
Are these events connected?
We don't know.
Could the beings Grusch describes have some relationship to ancient human history?
We don't know that either.
But perhaps the most fascinating question isn't whether visitors came here from another planet.
Perhaps it's whether humanity's own history still contains discoveries that could fundamentally change our understanding of where we came from.
At True Blood Group, we believe questions about blood, genetics, ancestry, and human origins deserve curiosity, serious research, and open discussion.
Because we all came from somewhere.
And sometimes the biggest mysteries begin with the simplest questions.
One Last Question for David Grusch
David, if you ever happen to stumble across this article, we've got one question that might be easier to answer than the ones Congress has been asking you.
What's your blood type? Any chance you're a type O?
Come on, you've already told us about secret UFO programs and mysterious bodies. Surely your blood type isn't classified too!
We'd love to hear from you.
