Article 029: The Giant of Kandahar

The Missing Soldiers, Anonymous Special Forces Witnesses, the C-130 Pilot, the Body That Disappeared and a Military Legend That Refuses to Die

Some stories disappear almost as quickly as they arrive.

This one didn't.

For more than twenty years, an extraordinary story has followed America's war in Afghanistan. According to the most famous version, a United States military team entered the mountains near Kandahar searching for soldiers who had disappeared.

What they supposedly encountered near a cave was unlike anything they had been trained to fight.

The witnesses described an enormous humanlike figure with pale skin, long reddish hair and six fingers and six toes. It supposedly stood somewhere around twelve to fifteen feet tall and carried a weapon that looked less like something from a modern battlefield and more like something from the ancient world.

A spear.

According to the story, the creature charged the soldiers and killed one of them before the team opened fire. They continued firing until the enormous figure finally collapsed.

Then, supposedly, the military came for the body.

That is where a strange battlefield story becomes something much bigger.

Years later, another alleged military witness would claim that he saw an enormous corpse at Bagram Airfield and was part of the crew that transported it aboard a C 130 out of Afghanistan.

There is no publicly authenticated military report proving this happened.

There is no publicly available DNA.

There is no verified photograph of the body.

There is no body that scientists can examine.

And when the Department of Defense was asked about the story in 2016, a spokesman said the department had no record or information about a Special Forces member being killed by a giant in Kandahar. SignalWatch

That should probably have ended the story.

It didn't.

Instead, more alleged military accounts appeared. Veterans began discussing strange sightings of enormous people in Afghanistan. A former Navy SEAL revealed that an Afghan interpreter had told him about a giant in the caves while he was actually deployed there. A former Canadian special operations soldier recently described seeing an Afghan man he estimated at around eight feet tall. Other anonymous military personnel have described enormous humanoid figures seen through sophisticated surveillance equipment.

Then in 2026, researcher Timothy Alberino sat across from Joe Rogan and made the story stranger still.

According to Alberino, perhaps we have been using the wrong name all along.

So let's go back to the beginning.

Because the story most people know today is not actually the story that first appeared.

THE STORY BEFORE MR. K

One of the earliest public versions we could trace comes from researcher and author Steve Quayle.

On November 7, 2005, Quayle appeared on Coast to Coast AM with George Noory for a program called “Giants: Evidence & Legend.”

And this part is important.

The account discussed in 2005 was not yet the famous Kandahar cave battle that would eventually spread across the internet.

According to Coast to Coast's surviving description of the episode, Quayle said he had received an email from a United States Air Force officer who claimed to have observed a dead giant in Afghanistan approximately eight months earlier.

The creature was reportedly about twice the height of a normal human and weighed approximately 1,100 pounds.

The officer also remembered an unusual odor.

Most interestingly, Quayle said the giant had supposedly been flown to a secret military base in Europe.

That does not mean the giant was real.

But it establishes something important about the history of the legend.

A story about American military personnel encountering the body of an enormous humanlike creature in Afghanistan was publicly circulating by 2005.

Years before the famous Mr. K interview.

THEN THE STORY CHANGED

As the years passed, the account became much more detailed.

The date moved backward to around 2002.

The giant was no longer simply a mysterious corpse seen by military personnel.

Now there was a battle.

A missing patrol.

A cave.

A Special Forces search team.

A dead American soldier.

And an enormous red haired creature that supposedly came charging out of the darkness carrying a spear.

This later version became famous largely through filmmaker and researcher L.A. Marzulli.

In 2016, Marzulli released an interview with an anonymous man commonly referred to as Mr. K or “the shooter.”

Mr. K claimed that he had firsthand knowledge of the encounter.

His identity was concealed.

His face was hidden.

His voice was disguised.

The location of the interview wasn't publicly disclosed.

That anonymity is one of the biggest weaknesses in the entire Kandahar case because outsiders cannot independently verify who Mr. K really was, which unit he served with, or whether he was even in Afghanistan during the alleged encounter.

But his story is the one that transformed the Kandahar Giant into the legend we know today. Know Your Meme

THE MISSING SOLDIERS

According to Mr. K's account, an American patrol had disappeared somewhere in the mountains.

Another team was sent to find them.

As the soldiers moved toward a cave, they allegedly discovered military equipment scattered around the area.

There were also human remains.

Then something emerged.

Mr. K described an enormous humanoid somewhere around twelve to fifteen feet tall.

It had reddish hair.

It had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot.

Some retellings describe two rows of teeth.

It wore primitive coverings or animal skins around its body and feet.

And witnesses repeatedly emphasized something else.

The smell.

The creature supposedly smelled overwhelmingly bad, almost like decaying bodies.

Then it attacked.

THE SOLDIER CALLED DAN

According to the famous account, the creature carried an enormous spear or pike.

A soldier identified as Dan was struck and killed.

The other soldiers immediately opened fire.

The story claims they continued firing for an extraordinary amount of time before the creature finally fell.

Once it was dead, the soldiers were supposedly left standing over something none of them could explain.

A humanlike body far larger than any normal human they had ever encountered.

According to the story, military aircraft eventually arrived and the corpse was lifted away.

It is an incredible story.

But Dan creates one of its biggest problems.

WHO WAS DAN?

If an American Special Forces soldier was killed in Afghanistan, there should ordinarily be a record of his death.

Researchers looking through publicly available casualty information have not found a Special Forces death matching the story.

Critic Jason Colavito found that the only American service member named Dan who died in Afghanistan in the relevant period was killed alongside other soldiers when confiscated rockets exploded in Kandahar.

That death has a documented explanation.

Not a cave.

Not a spear.

Someone who believes the Kandahar story could argue that the true circumstances of Dan's death were deliberately changed.

But we have to be careful there.

If every missing record becomes evidence that the records were altered, the theory becomes impossible to test.

So for now, the soldier called Dan remains one of the largest holes in the story.

BUT MR. K WASN'T THE ONLY ALLEGED MILITARY SOURCE

This is where things become more complicated.

Marzulli presented another man who claimed to have heard about the incident separately. That second account contained differences from Mr. K's story, including the estimated size of the creature and the nature of the military unit involved.

And Timothy Alberino says he and Steve Quayle interviewed another person entirely.

The alleged C 130 pilot.

Unlike Mr. K, this man did not claim to have fought the giant.

He claimed to have encountered its body afterward.

THE PILOT AT BAGRAM

According to Alberino's account, Steve Quayle was contacted by the mother of an active duty military pilot.

Her son apparently had something extraordinary to tell them.

Eventually, Quayle and Alberino met him.

Alberino says they personally examined enough of the man's credentials to satisfy themselves that he really was military and really was a C 130 pilot.

That verification has not been independently demonstrated publicly, so we still have to treat his identity and story as unverified.

But Alberino has repeatedly maintained that this was a real military pilot who was extremely nervous about discussing what he had seen.

The pilot claimed his crew was at Bagram Airfield when unusual cargo arrived.

Before they even fully examined it, according to the account, they could smell it.

Then they saw what was underneath the covering.

An enormous humanlike corpse.

According to Alberino's retelling of the pilot's account, the body had reddish hair and six fingers and six toes.

The weight was supposedly around 1,100 pounds.

The alleged height was somewhere around ten to twelve feet.

THE FLIGHT OUT OF AFGHANISTAN

The pilot claimed that his crew transported the body from Bagram Airfield to Qatar.

This distinction matters.

According to Alberino, the pilot claimed firsthand involvement in the Bagram to Qatar portion of the journey.

What happened after Qatar is less certain.

The pilot supposedly heard that the body eventually went to Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.

But he did not claim that he personally flew it there.

That part was hearsay.

So if we are trying to reconstruct the alleged chain of custody without exaggerating it, it looks like this:

The creature is allegedly killed somewhere in Afghanistan.

Its body is supposedly recovered.

An alleged C 130 pilot says he encounters it at Bagram.

He claims the body is transported to Qatar.

Then the trail disappears.

WHY WRIGHT PATTERSON?

Anyone who has spent time researching UFO history probably recognizes that name immediately.

Wright Patterson Air Force Base has appeared in decades of UFO stories involving alleged recovered technology and biological material.

That does not mean those stories are true.

And there is no authenticated evidence showing that the Kandahar body ever reached Wright Patterson.

But it is interesting that the alleged destination became part of the story.

It also gives us something concrete to think about.

If an enormous biological specimen really moved through the American military transportation system, somebody had to move it.

Somebody had to weigh it.

Somebody had to load it.

Somebody had to assign aircraft space to it.

Somebody had to receive it.

And somewhere, unless every part of the process was deliberately kept outside normal systems, there should have been paperwork.

That may be one of the most interesting unanswered questions in the entire story.

THEN THE STORY REACHED MRBALLEN

John Allen, better known online as MrBallen, eventually helped introduce the Kandahar story to millions of people.

But there is something about his connection to the story that is often overlooked.

Allen is a former United States Navy SEAL.

And he says he heard about a giant in Kandahar while actually deployed in Afghanistan.

He does not claim to have seen the creature.

According to Allen, an Afghan interpreter brought up a story about a giant living in caves around Kandahar. Allen said they were operating in another part of Afghanistan at the time, but the interpreter appeared convinced there was truth behind the story.

Allen remembered the conversation.

Years later, after leaving the military and becoming MrBallen, he decided to investigate the story and discovered the Mr. K testimony.

He has not claimed that his interpreter's story proves the military encounter happened.

What makes his account interesting is something simpler.

The Kandahar giant story, or at least a local version of it, was apparently being discussed by an Afghan interpreter with an American service member inside Afghanistan. Podcasts - Your Podcast Transcripts

THEN CAME DEVON LARRATT

In June 2026, the story received another unexpected boost.

World famous arm wrestler Devon Larratt spent roughly two decades in the Canadian Armed Forces and served with Canada's elite Joint Task Force 2.

During an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Larratt discussed his deployments to Afghanistan.

And then he described an Afghan man he personally saw.

Not twelve feet tall.

Not carrying a spear.

Not hiding in a cave.

A warlord.

Larratt said his team was meeting with a local Afghan warlord. He remained roughly 200 meters away and observed the meeting through optics.

The man, according to Larratt, was enormous.

Larratt estimated him at around eight feet tall or perhaps slightly more. He described the man as not merely tall, but extremely broad.

The normal sized men around him made the difference even more obvious.

Larratt said he watched his own officer standing near the warlord and estimated that the officer reached only around the lower part of the man's chest.

When Rogan asked whether he believed the Kandahar Giant story, Larratt said he did.

That is Larratt's opinion, not evidence that Mr. K's story happened.

But his firsthand claim is interesting because he isn't claiming to have seen a supernatural creature.

He is claiming something much more modest.

OTHER SOLDIERS HAVE TOLD STRANGE STORIES TOO

There are additional accounts that deserve mentioning, although these become even harder to verify because the people remain anonymous.

The veteran focused Havok Journal published several stories from military personnel who claimed to have observed unusually large humanlike figures in Afghanistan.

One anonymous Air Force Reaper sensor operator described observing a remote settlement through infrared equipment. The operator estimated several people there at roughly three to four meters tall based on the measurement tools available through the imaging system.

They weren't attacking anyone.

They were supposedly doing completely ordinary things.

Tending a fire.

Moving around a small settlement.

Standing near goats.

The operator said the goats appeared tiny beside them.

Another anonymous Air Force full motion video analyst described watching a group of men around a fire. What initially looked like two men under a blanket supposedly stood up and revealed itself to be one enormous person. The analyst estimated the individual at approximately eight or nine feet tall and said the man had to bend dramatically to enter a small structure.

Then there is an account attributed to a former Australian Army lieutenant deployed in Uruzgan Province.

He said he observed an unusually large humanlike figure through thermal imaging and used a laser rangefinder to establish that the compounds near the figure were approximately 1,800 meters away.

From the figure's apparent size relative to the structures, he estimated it could have been around twelve feet tall.

These accounts are fascinating.

But they remain anonymous.

We don't have their identities, raw surveillance footage or military records allowing us to independently verify the sightings.

Even the author who published them said he believed the famous Kandahar Giant story itself sounded too convenient and too much like Hollywood.

That distinction is important.

You can doubt the famous cave story and still wonder whether soldiers encountered unusually large people in Afghanistan. Havok Journal

THEN IN 2026, ALBERINO SAID SOMETHING EVEN STRANGER

Timothy Alberino appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience in July 2026.

Rogan immediately brought up the Kandahar Giant.

Alberino told him that of all the unusual subjects he investigates, giants in Afghanistan make him unusually nervous.

He claimed that people with high level government or Pentagon experience who will discuss UFO subjects with him become reluctant when Afghanistan giants are mentioned.

Then he described another encounter.

According to Alberino, several years after working on the original Kandahar investigation, he met a man who had held a significant position connected with operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and had flown numerous missions.

During a casual conversation, Alberino asked him about the Kandahar Giant.

Alberino claims the man's reaction changed immediately.

According to Alberino, the man's wife indicated that he couldn't discuss it.

Alberino says they eventually met again under more controlled circumstances and the man told him an extraordinary story.

But Alberino refuses to reveal what the man allegedly told him because he says he wants to protect him.

Then Alberino made the statement that reignited the entire mystery.

According to him, it isn't the Giant of Kandahar.

It is the giants of Kandahar.

Alberino also said he has spoken with other soldiers who claimed knowledge of the specific Kandahar incident or of giant stories in Afghanistan more broadly.

None of that is independently verified.

But it means that Alberino now claims his information extends beyond the original pilot and Mr. K. Podcasts - Your Podcast Transcripts

SO HOW MANY WITNESSES ARE THERE ACTUALLY?

This is where we have to separate things carefully.

There isn't a lineup of five publicly identified Special Forces soldiers all telling the same story.

We do not have that.

What we actually have is a collection of different categories of testimony.

Mr. K claims firsthand involvement in the famous battle.

Another military source presented by Marzulli claimed secondhand knowledge.

The alleged C 130 pilot claims firsthand contact with a giant corpse, but not the battle itself.

MrBallen says an Afghan interpreter told him about a giant living in caves around Kandahar while Allen was deployed in Afghanistan.

Devon Larratt says he personally saw an extraordinarily large Afghan warlord, but not the Kandahar creature.

Anonymous military surveillance personnel have reported seeing extremely large humanlike figures elsewhere in Afghanistan.

And Alberino says additional military personnel have privately told him things he cannot publicly reveal.

Those aren't all witnesses to the same event.

And we shouldn't pretend they are.

But taken together, they explain why the legend refuses to disappear.

THE PENTAGON WAS ACTUALLY ASKED

In 2016, fact checkers contacted the Department of Defense about the story.

The answer was straightforward.

The department said it had no record or information concerning a Special Forces member being killed by a giant in Kandahar.

There is still no publicly authenticated after action report describing the encounter.

No casualty report matching the story.

No flight manifest identifying a giant body.

No photograph with a verified chain of custody.

No biological material available for independent testing.

No publicly identified member of the alleged combat team whose military history can be independently compared with the story. SignalWatch

For anyone investigating the case seriously, that is a major problem.

But now let's entertain the other possibility.

What if something really did happen?

WHAT IF THE GIANT WAS REAL?

For a moment, forget the Nephilim.

Forget angels.

Forget ancient prophecies.

Forget supernatural explanations entirely.

Suppose American soldiers encountered an extraordinarily large human or humanlike individual somewhere in Afghanistan.

What would happen?

An unknown humanoid approaching even ten feet tall would immediately become one of the most extraordinary biological discoveries of modern times.

Scientists would want DNA.

Doctors would want tissue samples.

Anthropologists would want skeletal measurements.

Geneticists would want to know whether the individual belonged to our species.

The military would want to know whether there were others.

Intelligence officials would want to know who knew about them.

And suddenly a bizarre battlefield encounter would become an enormous scientific discovery.

COULD A HUMAN ACTUALLY GET THAT BIG?

We know humans can reach extraordinary heights.

The tallest reliably documented human in modern history, Robert Wadlow, reached 8 feet 11.1 inches.

His enormous height resulted from a medical condition involving excessive growth hormone.

But Wadlow also illustrates the biological problem with the Kandahar story.

At extreme heights, the human body begins encountering serious structural problems.

Bones, joints, circulation and mobility all become increasingly difficult.

A twelve to fifteen foot humanoid capable of moving quickly through mountainous terrain and fighting soldiers would therefore be far stranger biologically than simply taking an ordinary human and making him taller.

That doesn't prove such an organism could never exist.

It means the evidence needed to establish one would have to be extraordinary.

And right now, we don't have it.

WHAT ABOUT THE SIX FINGERS AND SIX TOES?

This is one of the most interesting details because it connects the story directly with ancient giant traditions.

The Bible contains a description in 2 Samuel 21:20 and 1 Chronicles 20:6 of an unusually large warrior who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot.

That resemblance is one reason researchers such as Quayle and Marzulli have connected modern giant stories with biblical traditions.

But six fingers and six toes do not require a supernatural explanation.

Polydactyly is a real human condition.

People can naturally be born with additional fingers or toes.

The much more interesting historical question is whether the Kandahar witnesses independently reported six digits before researchers began interpreting the creature through biblical giant traditions.

Because if those details appeared only after the biblical connection became central to the story, the similarity becomes less surprising.

AND WE HAVE TO ASK THE RH NEGATIVE QUESTION

Since this is True Blood Group, there is one question we know somebody is going to ask.

If the Giant of Kandahar really existed, what was its blood type?

And yes, we have to wonder.

What if it was Rh negative?

Before we run too far with that idea, there is absolutely no evidence telling us the alleged creature's ABO blood group or Rh status. None of the military accounts we found mention blood typing, laboratory results, genetic testing or medical records from the supposed body. As far as the evidence available to the public is concerned, we have no idea what its blood type would have been.

But as a thought experiment, it raises a fascinating question.

If an enormous humanlike body really was recovered and transported out of Afghanistan, blood and tissue would have been among the most scientifically valuable things that could have been collected. A basic blood type would only be the beginning. Researchers could examine DNA, chromosomes, ancestry markers, genetic variants associated with growth, and potentially determine how closely related the individual was to modern human populations.

The Rh question would be especially interesting for us because Rh negative blood ultimately reflects genetics. The familiar positive or negative blood type designation usually refers to whether red blood cells express the RhD antigen, with Rh negative commonly resulting from variants involving the RHD gene.

So imagine for a moment that the Kandahar story was real and laboratory testing showed that this individual was Rh negative.

Would that prove a connection between Rh negative people and ancient giants?

No.

Rh negative blood exists among completely ordinary modern humans, so finding it in an unusually large individual would not by itself demonstrate anything supernatural or establish a separate species.

But it would certainly give us another question to investigate.

How closely did its RHD region resemble ours?

What did the rest of its genome look like?

Was it genetically an ordinary modern human with extraordinary growth characteristics?

Did it belong to an isolated population?

Were its unusual physical characteristics inherited?

And if there really were other individuals like it in those mountains, did they share those traits?

That's where the hypothetical becomes much more interesting than simply asking whether the giant was Rh positive or Rh negative.

If the body described by the witnesses really existed, somewhere there could have been blood.

Somewhere there could have been tissue.

And somewhere there could have been DNA.

Forget the legends for a moment.

Show us the genetics.

Because if there really was something unusual about the Giant of Kandahar, its DNA could tell us more than twenty years of stories ever will.

AND WHAT ABOUT THE RED HAIR?

The red hair has also become one of the most famous parts of the legend.

It has encouraged comparisons with giant traditions from other parts of the world, particularly stories about ancient red haired populations.

But again, red hair itself isn't evidence of an unknown species.

Hair pigmentation can vary significantly among human populations.

The question isn't whether a very tall red haired human could exist.

Of course one could.

The extraordinary claim is the combination of everything.

Twelve or more feet tall.

Massive strength.

Six digits.

Unusual teeth.

Primitive clothing.

A cave dwelling lifestyle.

A lethal encounter with modern soldiers.

And then a corpse that supposedly disappears into military custody.

That combination is what requires evidence.

COULD THE LEGEND HAVE STARTED WITH A REAL PERSON?

There is another possibility sitting somewhere between “biblical giant” and “complete fabrication.”

What if soldiers encountered an exceptionally large Afghan man?

Devon Larratt's account is relevant here.

He says he personally observed a man he estimated at roughly eight feet tall.

If his estimate was reasonably accurate, that's already extraordinary.

Now imagine stories about people like that spreading between units.

Eight feet becomes nine.

Nine becomes ten.

Ten becomes twelve.

An unusually large man becomes an isolated tribe.

A frightening encounter becomes a battle.

A body evacuated from a battlefield becomes an unknown species secretly transported out of the country.

Twenty years later, the original event could become almost impossible to separate from everything added afterward.

That wouldn't make the entire story meaningless.

It might mean there was a real event buried underneath the legend.

OR WHAT IF THERE REALLY WERE PEOPLE IN THOSE MOUNTAINS WE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT?

Now we can go one step further.

Afghanistan contains enormous mountainous regions and cave systems, some extraordinarily difficult to access.

For decades, warfare made scientific exploration of many areas even more difficult.

Suppose an isolated population existed there.

Not supernatural beings.

Not demons.

Not fallen angels.

Just human beings with unusual genetics and exceptional stature.

Could a small isolated population remain largely unknown to Western science?

That's a much less extraordinary proposition than a surviving race of biblical giants.

But it still raises serious problems.

A population needs enough people to reproduce.

They need food.

They leave remains.

They leave tools.

They interact with neighboring communities.

They leave genetic traces.

The larger the individuals and the longer the population existed, the harder complete invisibility becomes.

And yet the repeated stories of unusually large people in remote Afghanistan make the question interesting enough to investigate rather than simply laugh at.

WHAT WOULD THE MILITARY DO WITH THE BODY?

This might be my favorite part of the entire mystery because it gives us something testable.

Suppose the body really existed.

Where would it go?

Probably not directly into a museum.

If an American military unit recovered an unknown biological specimen during an active war, it would initially be evidence.

Military medical personnel would examine it.

Intelligence agencies would want to know what it was.

Tissue samples would likely be collected.

Measurements would be recorded.

Transportation would have to be arranged.

And if the pilot's story is true, we may already know part of that transportation route.

Bagram to Qatar.

After that, we don't know.

WOULD THE SMITHSONIAN GET IT?

The Smithsonian is frequently mentioned in entirely separate stories about alleged giant skeletons found in North America.

But we found no reliable evidence connecting the Smithsonian directly to the Kandahar body.

Those are separate mysteries and we shouldn't combine them simply because both involve giants.

If a Kandahar body eventually became an ordinary scientific specimen, an institution like the Smithsonian could theoretically become involved at some later point.

But the actual Kandahar testimony we found doesn't establish that.

The trail described by the alleged pilot ends in Qatar.

Wright Patterson is only the rumored destination afterward.

Then the body disappears from the story.

WHY WOULD ANYONE HIDE IT?

This question gets complicated.

If American forces really discovered an unknown humanlike population during wartime, there could initially be legitimate reasons to restrict information.

The location might expose military operations.

Officials might fear people attempting to locate the population.

The discovery could create diplomatic questions involving Afghanistan.

Scientists would immediately demand access.

Religious interpretations could spread before anyone even understood what had been found.

And if American soldiers had killed a member of a previously unknown human population, the ethical and legal questions would be enormous.

None of those possibilities proves that a cover up happened.

They simply explain why an unprecedented biological discovery made during an active military operation might not immediately be announced at a press conference.

But decades later, permanent secrecy would be much harder to justify scientifically.

THERE SHOULD BE A TRAIL

And this may ultimately be where the entire case lives or dies.

Forget finding another anonymous person willing to tell a podcast that he heard about the giant.

If the C 130 story is true, there should have been logistics.

An aircraft.

A crew.

A date.

A flight plan.

Cargo.

A loadmaster.

Weight calculations.

Ground personnel.

A destination.

Possibly medical personnel.

Possibly photographs.

Possibly biological samples.

Possibly communications discussing unusual cargo.

One authenticated document connecting an aircraft at Bagram with unusual biological cargo headed for Qatar would be more valuable than another hundred anonymous stories.

A verified photograph would change everything.

A tissue sample with a documented chain of custody could potentially settle the question completely.

Several publicly identified members of the alleged Special Forces team independently telling matching stories would radically strengthen the case.

Right now, we don't have any of those things.

SO WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN KANDAHAR?

We don't know.

The evidence currently available does not establish that American Special Forces fought and killed a twelve foot giant in Afghanistan.

The earliest public account we found from 2005 is different from the famous version that emerged later.

Mr. K remains anonymous.

The alleged C 130 pilot remains anonymous.

The death of the soldier called Dan does not match available casualty records.

The Department of Defense says it has no record of the incident.

And no physical evidence has been made available for independent examination.

Those are serious problems.

But there is another side to the story that makes it difficult to simply forget.

Steve Quayle was discussing an alleged giant recovered in Afghanistan back in 2005.

Years later, Mr. K claimed firsthand knowledge of a violent encounter.

Another alleged military pilot described transporting an enormous corpse.

MrBallen says an Afghan interpreter told him about a giant in the caves while Allen was deployed in Afghanistan.

Anonymous American and Australian military personnel have described unusually large humanlike figures through advanced surveillance equipment.

Devon Larratt, a former Canadian special operations soldier, says he personally observed an Afghan man he estimated at roughly eight feet tall.

And now Timothy Alberino claims other military personnel have privately told him there is much more to the story.

None of those things proves the Giant of Kandahar existed.

But they do explain why the story refuses to die.

THE ONE THING THAT COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING

We don't need another legend.

We need evidence.

Find the aircraft.

Find the flight.

Find the crew.

Find the cargo record.

Find the original after action report.

Find the soldiers.

Find a photograph that can be authenticated.

Find biological material that can be tested.

Because if an approximately 1,100 pound humanoid corpse really left Bagram Airfield aboard an American C 130, then somewhere between that mountain, that aircraft and Qatar, human beings had to move it.

And human beings leave records.

Maybe the Giant of Kandahar is one of the greatest military legends of the twenty first century.

Maybe an encounter with an extraordinarily large human slowly transformed into something much stranger as the story traveled from soldier to soldier.

Maybe Mr. K and the pilot were telling the truth about something we still don't understand.

Or maybe somewhere inside an old military archive is a piece of paper that would completely change the way we look at this story.

Until somebody finds it, the Giant of Kandahar remains exactly where it has been for more than twenty years.

Somewhere between testimony and folklore.

Between biology and mythology.

Between a cave in the mountains of Afghanistan and a body that supposedly disappeared without a trace.

And maybe the biggest question isn't whether we believe the story.

Maybe it's whether anyone has looked hard enough for the trail it should have left behind.
